Trio of American Silver Medalists Lead the Fields

August 29 (Boulder, Colo) The stars will come out in Las Vegas during the Excel Sports CrossVegas scheduled for September 26 led by a trio of Americans who harvested Silver Medals at the 2007 World Championships in Belgium. Look for Jonathan Page, Katie Compton and Danny Summerhill to line up for this early ‘cross season event held during the Interbike tradeshow.

Jonathan Page’s second place finish in January was the top placing ever by an American rider in the Elite World Championships. He’ll line up wearing the jersey of the Belgian-based Sunweb – ProJob cycling team.

One of his young rivals in Las Vegas will be fellow 2007 Silver Medalist Danny Summerhill of the Clif Bar Development Cross Team. Summerhill pulled off his near win in the Junior category.

Katie Compton rounds out the trio of medalists in the Elite Women’s field. Compton, of the Spike Shooter team, fought a battle in the mud of Belgium to take a much-deserved second place.

Look for even more announcements from domestic racers in the next weeks.

The UCI Category 2 race will attract top U.S. Cyclocross racers as well as Europeans chasing all-important UCI points to the “Entertainment Capital of the World” for an early cyclocross season showdown.

The course will be at Desert Breeze Soccer Complex, a Clark County Park Department facility in western Las Vegas 6 miles from the “Vegas Strip.” Fully lighted, the park features grassy slopes and paved paths that will make for a challenging course.
