Pure Sweet Hell CX Film in San Francisco - Oct. 8

Finally in San Francisco

Pure Sweet Hell, cyclocross film

One screening only: Pure Sweet Hell screens on
Saturday October 8, 5pm

Victoria Theater (16th&Mission ).
Advance tickets available at:
http://www.bicyclefilmfestival.com/

Pleasure and pain, glory and defeat, mud and…more mud,
PURESWEETHELL tells the story of cyclocross, a sport
that has emerged as road racing’s punk rock cousin.

Told from an insider’s perspective, the filmmakers
traveled to ‘cross competitions throughout north
America, dug up vintage photos and film footage, and
followed ‘cross luminaries Justin Robinson, Gina Hall,
Barry Wicks and Rick Hunter.

Shot entirely on Super 8 and supported by experimental
rock music, PURESWEETHELL surfaces both the strong
community behind the solitary sport and the grace that
arises amidst all of its grit.

Bay Area Super Prestige Series Ready for Sunday!

The opening round of this year's Bay Area Super Prestige Series is set for Kick-off at 9:00 this Sunday at Candlestick Point and we are loading the trailer. Our custom medals have arrived, our new podium backdrop is drop-dead gorgeous, we've got some special new items for sale in the "Pilarcitos Emporium", and meatball sandwiches will be featured on the menu of Cafe Pilarcitos this weekend.

Registration for the first race will open at 7:30 am. Please see the full schedule at www.pilarcitos.com.

Saturday, while the Pilarcitos staff is working on course and venue construction, John Funke, Team Sycip and Big Swingin' Cycles of San Francisco will be providing hands-on training with their cross clinic the best introduction to our sport this side of Belgium. See this link for more info

http://www.ncnca.org/cyclocross/2005/docs/sycipclinic2.htm

And best news yet our Ritchey Neutral Pits. The wheels have arrived, 5 sets will be waiting for you on course a little beyond the Bianchi double barricade section just in case. They'll be available for all events and for all riders. We want you to finish with a smile, maybe a twisted, exhausted, hammered smile, but a smile all the way.

2005 Bay Area Super Prestige Series

It's Barricade Season!

With road racing left in the dust, it's time to make plans for your next season - the 2005 Bay Area Super Prestige CycloCross Season (it's definitely NOT the off-season anymore!)

Please visit our website for detailed information regarding dates and
locations (www.pilarcitos.com) for our 2 favorite venues - Candlestick
Point State Recreation Area across from 49'ers stadium and the
spiritual home of Pilarcitos Cyclesports - Coyote Point in San Mateo.

We race on:

October 2    Candlestick
October 23   Candlestick
December 3   Coyote Point
December 4   Coyote Point - Finals and Double Points

And don't forget Velo Bella's Surf City round of the USGP of 'cross on
saturday, Nov. 19th when the best 'cross racers in the country land in
Northern California.

Please note that the Grand Prix Clark Natwick on November 20th in Golden Gate Park is not part of the Bay Area Super prestige Series - it will have a separate prizelist as we honor one of the pioneers of CycloCross. This race is the finale of the 6-race series where the USGP series winners will be crowned - and some very special guests will be in town for the show.

Online registration is now available for the GP Clark Natwick, go to our page @ bikereg.com

9/23/2005 - CCCX TO OPEN AT MONTEREY PENINSULA COLLEGE THIS SUNDAY
Central Coast CycloCross opens up this Sunday at a one time only venue for Northern California CycloCross racers! Montery Peninsula College in Monterey will host CCCX race # 1 and it should be some fun racing for everyone! The College is begining a major renovation to the sports facility area, so the athletic director gave CCCX full access to put together a cross race! The course will start and finish on the track surrounding the football field, and it ventures into the softball field and some other areas of the campus. There are a few pavement sections to stretch your legs out for this early season race, and there will be 3 run up sections. This is the first ever cross race held in Monterey so be sure and take advantage of this unique opportunity. CCCX is paying out cash to the Mens A, Master Mens A, and Elite Women Fields. All other groups will be awarded medals to top 3 with series points to all. Please check the web site cccx.org for start times, race information and directions. This race will also serve as a fund raiser for the MPC Athletic Department. -Keith Defiebre [details]
