Fresno Night CX Race Jan 14th

Fresno's Fall/ Winter Cyclocross Series Jan. 14th 2006, Woodward Park,
Fresno, California


On Jan. 14 we will conduct a special event called, The "Lou" Night Race*. This race is to honor one of our founders of off road cycling in Fresno, Louie Casiano Jr. We will have a lot of special events going on that Saturday night, Music, Coffee, Hot Cocoa, Kids "Fun" Race, Classes for riders from Novice to Expert, all bikes welcome! Bike contest and prizes for the most "colorful and brightly lighted" bikes. Awards party after the race at Tri-Sport Bicyclies, Blackstone and Nees, at 9PM. This is an USA Cycling/ NORBA event.

Volunteers always welcome so come out & pay tribute to a local legend and have some fun too!!! The Fun begins at 6 PM, follow park loop until Horse Trail sign and race signs to free event parking.. CCCX Finals Set For This Sunday At Fort Ord Day Camp

Series titles are up for grabs this Sunday as the CCCX series concludes on a fun race course held at the Ft Ord East Garrison Day Camp. As per Dave Carr the promoters are now scrambling to build a BMX-Cyclo Cross lay out that is up to U.C.I, U.S.A. Cycling, N.C.N.C.A, and W.A.D.A. standards and specs.

Many of the divisions will not be claimed by series winners until their final race is over. While others are firmly held by series leaders who have raced well all season long. Only Mark Abele(Boure) has raced the entire series undefeated in his division. So with a win in the final race Abele could lay claim to the MVP for the CCCX series in 2005. Some divisions will be won by placing in the final race and this will lead to some great action on race day. Junior Men 18 & Under division will be decided as Logan Loader(Alan Factory) and Jeremy Blalock(Joselyn's Bicycles) are separated by only 2 points. Master Men 45+ B division will be decided at the finish as four riders are up for series titles. DeLaurentis(LGBRC/Specialized/Easton), Hall(LGBRC/Specialized/Easton), Lodge(Black Market Racing), and Sherrill(Mt. Nittany Wheelworks) are separated by only a few points headed toward the final. Simon Vickers(Rock Lobster/Traugott Guitars) and Stella Carey(Kelly Bike Co.) look poised to win Elite titles. Men's B division will be down to the last race as well, with David Samples Jr.(Cal Giant Inc.) and Brian Rogers(Sycip Racing) separated by 3 points heading toward the final race.


All racers who enter the final on this Sunday will be treated to a 2005 CCCX T-shirt for their entry. Custom made CCCX series champion jerseys will be awarded to all division winners. Top 3 finishers in each division for the series will receive awards after the final race. There will be medals up for grabs in each race that day to top finishers. And there will be Cash pay outs to Elite Men, Elite Women, and Master 35+ A Men at the finish of those events. Per race cash payouts are determined per group size and a 15 rider minimum for cash to be awarded each race.

It should be a great day to have a final event with the mud and storms of race #5 a thing of the past. Yet the riders who battled the conditions of race #5 will be missing the mud and water the was fun to race on! The course will be somewhat similar to the past race held at the day camp. There will be a few sections different from the previous race at the Day Camp, and racers will be faced with some new challenges.
